Could the world be run on solar power?
It’s widely acknowledged that the vast majority of currently used fossil fuels are running out, so much so that some scientists predict that we will be bereft of these fuel sources inside a century.
Its time to look at other forms of power, everyone agrees on that. One of the most viable long term solutions to the forecast power shortfalls is the widespread implementation of Solar Power.
As a comparison , the Solar Energy that hits a square mile in a year is the energy equivalent of over 4 million barrels of oil.

Hot on the heels of the UKs freshly launched (and pioneering for Europe) Solar Strategy, the UK government granted approval for 8 renewable energy projects in the UK for 2014. Last Month Engineering and Technology giant Siemens announced their plans for large scale wind turbine production and installation facilities in the north of the UK. The 2 sites are the Green port Hull project which has been announced previously, and will cover service construction and assembly and the newly revealed plan for a new rotor blade manufacturing facility in Paull, East Riding.
When a local Chelmsford resident decided to pursue the governments Feed In Tariff in 2011, he was looking forward to generating his own free clean electricity, lowering his energy bills and most of all 20 years of guaranteed Feed in Tariff payments from the government.
However, in his haste the gentleman selected a company that have now ceased to trade to perform his installation. When things weren’t working correctly he called Carmichael Browns, an established engineer, to see what we could do to help. Commercial-scale Solar PV projects are estimated to be generating £13.5million worth of electricity a year according to the latest research poll.
Research carried out by an independent energy company revealed that the many commercial-scale independent Solar projects of over 50kw, that are operating in the UK at the end of 2012, account for 322MW of its capacity.
Renewable Energy Developer’s account for 59% of the total energy being generated by the sector with 13% coming from onsite generators and landowners alike and a further 7% is accounted for by the agricultural sector. Read the rest of this entry »
